What is EV battery energy storage?
A battery from a used electric vehicle (e.g. Tesla Model 3, BMW i3, Nissan Leaf) still has 70-90% of its original capacity. Instead of going to recycling — it can serve in your home for another 8-15 years as energy storage (so-called „second life”). The BMS-EV controller allows you to safely connect such a battery to a hybrid inverter.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a Tesla battery?
Yes. We support Tesla Model 3, Y, S and X (60-100 kWh). The BMS-EV controller handles Tesla modules both directly and in multi-module configurations.
Is BMW i3 battery suitable for home?
Yes — it’s one of the most popular batteries for home energy storage. Versions 18, 22 and 40 kWh work great with Deye and FoxESS inverters. Used BMW i3 22 kWh price: ~€700-1200.
I have a battery from another car — can you check compatibility?
Yes. We support 80+ battery models (full list above). If yours is not listed — reach out, we usually can configure it. We also have DIY profiles (Orion BMS, RJXZS, FoxESS HV2600, Pylon HV).
Is it safe?
Yes — the BMS-EV controller continuously monitors cell voltages, temperature and current. If safety thresholds are exceeded, it disconnects the circuit. EV batteries themselves are automotive-grade with certification.
How much will I save?
With a 40 kWh battery — typically €1000-1500 per year on energy bills. Combined with photovoltaics (self-consumption) — up to €2000+ per year. Payback time: 3-5 years.
Do I need solar panels?
Not required. Storage makes sense even with night tariffs (charge cheap at night, use during day). Best financial outcome comes from PV + EV storage combination.
Where do I get the battery?
From EV salvage auctions, recovery dealers, imports. Approximate prices: BMW i3 22 kWh ~€700-1200, Nissan Leaf 24 kWh ~€500-900, Tesla Model 3 60 kWh ~€2500-3500. We can recommend trusted suppliers.
How long does it take to receive the kit?
5-10 business days — we configure the controller individually for your battery and inverter. Shipping via courier.
What if the inverter fails or battery dies?
BMS-EV controller is independent — replacing the inverter does not require replacing the BMS. EV battery typically has 8-15 years of life in storage mode (less stress than in a car).
Do I need electrical certification?
To connect the inverter to home AC installation — yes (qualified electrician). The BMS-EV and battery installation itself is DC work — can be done DIY following our manual.
